Sunday Ode to Progress
I can remember a Christmas many years ago when my sister and I were so excited because we got our very own computer to put upstairs. We were a two computer household! Amazing! And our computer even had a 36.6 baud modem in it - that's, like, 1.5x faster than the one in the old computer! We even got our own phone line so we could be online without tying up the main phone line. And the 8x CD-ROM - phenomenal!
Let me tell you, we were cutting edge.
And this morning I am sitting in my living room with two computer on my ottoman. Both are connected to nothing, running of batteries and downloading websites at lightening speeds from thin air. My phone, which is smaller than my wireless mouse, sits next to me on the couch while I listen to my satellite radio.
Best thing - in another ten years, I'll look back at this post and be like, wow, I can't believe things in 2007 were so primitive.
