For real this time?

The President has promised to veto the Homeland Security spending bill passed by the House yesterday after it exceeded his proposed budget by $2.1 billion. He has made this promise before, and failed to follow through. Maybe this time it will be for real. Given the relatively small amount that the Congress went over, this seems to be real principles shining through (or at least that's a bonus of his attempt to muscle out some relevance).

Two points for the 147 Republicans who voted against the bill as well, which would prevent any veto being overridden.

I hope it comes to a showdown. Let the fiscal-conservative base see if the President and the GOP Congress still have some willingness to stand up for smaller government. I'll be guardedly optimistic.
