Why bother?

When I was maintaining a personal website from 2000-2002, it was a chore. It was a lot of work because you were creating content. Content took time. To keep with the standard format I had set for myself, I had to have two articles of between 250-400 words plus fill a sidebar of quips and random thoughts, and even taglines at the top and bottom of the page - and all that just to have 5 people read it and be more impressed that I'm actually able to put something up on that World Wide Web than with what I wrote. Really, why bother?

But with a blog, I'm less interested in developing content than I am with developing ideas. Ideas are much more fun, take much less time, and, most importantly, invite interaction. With a blog I can have 1 or 2 ideas a day, or I could have 50, but I don't have to generate all that superfluous content to go along with the one good idea that compelled me to update my site in the first place.

Ideas, however, need to be bounced around. That's how they can turn into big tough ideas that the little ideas can't push around anymore. If you have an idea that comes from some idea I throw up on this site, I hope you share it in the comments.
